Early Evening: David LaVallee dropped in for a quick pre-Tuning the Air taco dinner, dropped off a guitar for Chuck, and this special gift:

...a custom-etched CD from the show on Saturday night. Paul's head is obscured by the CD hole, but the beams of light seem to be pouring from that exact spot, so I supposed this photo is accurate as shown.

I'll work on extracting a few choice musical extracts to share here later this week.

Pre-Easter House Concert

Morning: calisthenics and sitting for five followed by final SBRS tightening rehearsal in prep for our Pre-Easter House Concert later in the day. A good morning workout featuring some five-person Chord Circulations that remind me there is much to still explore in this domain.

Evening: a packed house and, according to a number of old and many new friends in the audience, possibly the best show ever. From my seat, the vocals, harmonies, arrangements felt crisp and strong. Everyone seemed "on" in their own way. And the support pouring from the standing-room-only audience undoubtedly contributed to the overall glow of the evening. Among many many others, nice to see the Goldroot family out in full force, and the Dervins, and the Czerwinskis, and the Hogles. I believe there were at least two (sanctioned) bootleggers in the audience.

One (of many) highlight of the evening: Hannah Russell's Ukulele debut with our full group performance of the "Log Song." Another: full house 3 against 4 polyrhythms including some excellent egg shaking all around. And another: the 'jazz oddessy improv' lead into a brisk 104-108-ish "Waiting Man."

And the enthusiastic audience-demanded encore: a debut of the Remembering (intro) before an all-acoustic, spunky-wanky version of Lay My Love.

SB, Paul O'Rear, and Ivan Lee: the strength regains us in between our time.
